BES Reception at the ESE Congress in Vienna

BES Members Drinks Reception at the ESE Congress The BES is inviting all members attending the ESE Congress in Vienna to join them at a Drinks Reception in the ’57 Lounge’ at the Melia Vienna Hotel, 18.00 – 20.00 hrs on Friday 13th September. The Melia Vienna Hotel is adjacent to the Congress Centre so a perfect way to end the Friday congress sessions before either heading to the Congress Dinner or arranging a meal out with friends and colleagues.  The ’57 Lounge’ is Austria’s highest bar at 220 metres and has sweeping views of the city as the sun goes down. The Reception is only open to BES Members who have reserved a place in advance before 10th September. From Sara Hurley: Urgent Dental Care Services in England

The Office of the Chief Dental Officer England and NHS England and NHS Improvement have produced  a commissioning standard for Urgent Dental Care services in England. The standard will support NHS England in commissioning consistent patient-centred urgent dental care services. It has been developed with patient and public input to ensure that includes the aspects of urgent care that are important to patients -  for example travelling times, location of service and the environment where the service is delivered. Implementation of the standards should ensure that patients and the public are aware of what services are available, how to access them and what they should expect from the services themselves. The Office of the Chief Dental Officer and NHS England and NHS Improvement have produced a commissioning standard for commissioners of restorative dentistry in England. The Standard will support NHS England in commissioning consistent patient-centred restorative dental care services. This guide aims to offer a standardised framework for the local commissioning of specialist and specialised restorative dentistry services. It is intended to be used by commissioners to ensure that they are improving access to care, based on patient needs, with demonstrable high-value health outcomes experienced by patients. Commissioners will need to work closely with local restorative dentistry Managed Clinical Networks (MCNs),  Consultants in Dental Public Health and Local Dental Networks (LDNs) or dental system leadership teams. ESE awareness campaign: vital pulp treatments

The ESE is delighted to announce the launch of an ESE awareness campaign on vital pulp treatments that includes the management of deep caries and exposed pulps. The key feature of the ESE campaign is to emphasise the appropriate diagnosis and treatment for deep caries and exposed pulps and the need to place more emphasis on vital pulp treatments in appropriate cases. Death of Professor A H R Rowe

We have sadly been informed by the family of the death of Jack Rowe on 22nd May, after a short illness, he was 93.    Professor Rowe was involved with the inauguration of the Society and in fact was its first President-Elect in 1963. This is to inform you that Prof Rowe's memorial service will be at Guy's Chapel, Guy's Campus, London which is in the courtyard by Thomas Guy's statue on Friday 6th September at 12.30.
