The plethora of injuries and management protocols can make management both confusing and challenging.  If we add to that the distressed patient and the need to often make quick decisions on a busy clinic, this can create trauma for the clinician themselves.  The aim of this workshop is to coach clinicians to increase their knowledge-base and hands-on skills in treating traumatic dental injuries through understanding the injuries from first principles in order to simplify the planning and management to achieve predictable results. \n\n \n\nAim: Improve confidence in managing dental trauma in general practice.Learning ObjectivesBy the end of the workshop, you will:\n\nIncrease your confidence in dental trauma history taking and injury identification.Understand how to prioritize management and plan treatment.Learn how to manage crown, root and crown-root fractures.Know how to identify and manage luxation injuries including tooth repositioning and splinting.Improve your awareness of the healing potential of the pulp and periodontium and learn when to consider endodontic treatment and when not to.Understand the role of vital pulp therapy in trauma including the use of calcium silicate materialsAppreciate how to identify and manage resorption in trauma and learn how to manage discoloured teethHave knowledge of the long-term consequences of traumatic injuries and how to plan for failure.GDC Learning Outcome: C\n\nCPD Hours: 6 hours\n\n
