About the award
The British Endodontic Society offers a national award annually to the dental student submitting the best report of an elective period project in the field of endodontology. Undergraduate students who have undertaken an elective period of study written six months before the closing date may apply. Please submit your project to Annabel Thomas by email as below.
The closing date is 23.59 hrs on 30th September each year and is subject to the following regulations.
Eligibility and entry requirements
The prize is open to any undergraduate dental student in a dental school in the United Kingdom. Joint entries are acceptable.
A written report of the elective period project in the field of endodontology should be submitted.
The entry must be written in english and must be typed in double spacing. Entries will need to be suitable for electronic submission. Entrants may discuss their report before submission with the representative of the BES in their dental school.
Entries will be judged on content, style and presentation.
The council of the British Endodontic Society appoints the judges, whose decision will be final. Feedback will not be provided to individuals.
Award of the prize
The winner shall receive a prize of £1000. In the case of a joint entry the prize money will be shared between the authors of the submission. The winner will also be invited, at the expense of the Society, to present details of their project at the Spring Scientific Meeting, this will include travel and accommodation expenses. The Society will also have the right to publish details of the project in the International Endodontic Journal, should it be considered suitable.
The successful undergraduate must permit the publication of photographs for the purpose of promoting the British Endodontic Society.
The undergraduate will also be invited to join the British Endodontic Society and enjoy the many benefits associated with membership.
