The BES has introduced this new award to recognise and reward the outstanding skills of endodontic teachers based at UK dental schools. The winner of the award will have been nominated for their dedication to the delivery of endodontic education to their students; inspiring a desire to pursue excellence in endodontics throughout their careers.
Eligibility and entry requirements
Nominations will be accepted from colleagues, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The nominee must be a member of the society and be involved in the delivery of endodontic teaching on a part-time basis (3 days a week or less) at a United Kingdom dental school. Teaching can be delivered at Undergraduate or Postgraduate level.
Nominations must show evidence of success and impact. The nominator/s must provide a reflective statement (no more then 1500 words) detailing why the nominee has been chosen. Consider the following:
- Instilling educational excellence: evidence the nominee has enhanced/transformed the learning experience for the student/s and the opportunities this may have opened up.
- Raising the profile of excellence within a team: evidence of supporting colleagues and influencing support for student learning; demonstrating impact and engagement beyond the nominee’s immediate academic or professional role.
- Developing excellence: evidence of the nominee’s commitment to her/his on-going professional development with regard to teaching and learning and/or learning support.
Award of the prize
The winner shall receive a Certificate of Appreciation, which will be awarded at the Regional Meeting.
The nominees will be received by the judging committee of the BES, which has been appointed by the Council of the British Endodontic Society. They will select the winner.
The prize will be awarded by the Council of the British Endodontic Society on recommendation of the judges. The Council reserves the right to withhold the prize if no suitable candidate is proposed.
The successful winner must permit the publication of photographs for the purpose of promoting the British Endodontic Society.
