NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Grant
The BES is now a NIHR non-commercial Partner. Appropriate research studies funded through our eligible funding streams are now automatically eligible for NIHR Clinical Research Network support and are therefore able to access the following NHS support via the NIHR Clinical Research Network:
- The NIHR Clinical Research Network Study Support Service – a standard national framework for supporting the planning, set-up and delivery of high quality clinical research in England.
- NHS Support as defined by AcoRD. This also includes research carried out in social care, care homes, hospices, or public health settings.
- AcoRD Part B Research activities, where relevant.
Please note that to be eligible for NIHR Clinical Research Network support, any research study that we fund must also meet the Department of Health and Social Care Eligibility Criteria in full, namely that it:
i. meets the definition of research as defined in section 2.1 of the Department of Health and Social Care Eligibility Criteria; and
ii. has appropriate ethical approval (e.g. NHS, Social Care REC, or Ministry of Defence REC); and Health Research Authority (HRA) Approval where required; and
iii. has full research funding (i.e. funding to meet all Research Costs in compliance with the AcoRD guidance).
