Outstanding Clinical Case Award

About the award

This new prize supports the development of those members undertaking postgraduate studies in Endodontology.

Eligibility

The prize is open to any member of the BES, who is currently undertaking a postgraduate degree course in Endodontology, mono-specialty training in Endodontics or specialty training in Restorative Dentistry. 

Project Requirements

A single fully documented endodontic case report should be submitted detailing treatment of endodontic-related problems that were successfully overcome.

This should include the following:

  1. Description of the cases presented and diagnostic procedures with justification of the treatment plan.
  2. Documentation of the treatment provided and materials used etc.
  3. Evaluation of the success of the treatment.
  4. Evidence-based decision making.
  5. Please include any supporting material such as radiographs and clinical photographs.

The entry must be written in English and must be typed in double spacing and submitted in pdf format.  The report shall not exceed 1000 words (not including references, tables and figures or the title. Sub-headings are included in the word count). Entries will need to be suitable for electronic  submission.

Cases submitted for other BES prizes must not be resubmitted.

Award of the prize

Entries will be judged on content, style and presentation.

The winner will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the BES and free BES membership in the following year.

The Council of the BES appoints the judges, whose decision will be final.  Feedback will not be provided to individuals.

The prize will be awarded by the Council of the BES on recommendation of the judges.  The Council reserves the right to withhold the prize if the standard of the entries is not of sufficient merit.

Presentation of the prize will take place at the BES Regional  Meeting, and will include the registration fee of the winner.  The winner must permit the publication of their photographs for the purpose of promoting the prize and the BES.

Closing Date

23.59 hrs on 1st February in each year of submission.
