Dr. Owen Addison qualified as a dentist from the University of Birmingham, in 2001. He received his PhD in Biomaterials in 2007 and subsequently completed a 5-year specialist clinical training in Restorative Dentistry in 2012. He was a clinical Professor in Birmingham before moving to the University of Alberta in 2016, where he took on the role of the Alberta Dental Association and College, Endowed Chair in Oral Health Translational Research. On returning to the UK in 2019, he joined King’s College London and re-established a translationally focused research group focused on developing materials and devices for advanced healthcare technologies. During the Covid-19 pandemic the group made a number of significant contributions: developing new insight into diagnostics; developing and licensing new approaches to sizing and manufacture of PPE; and with co-workers at Imperial College London contributed to the better understanding of dental procedural aerosols.
