Mr James Allison

James completed his undergraduate degree at Newcastle School of Dental Sciences and went on to work in several dental specialties and in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in North East England. In his current role as a Clinical Fellow in Oral Surgery at the School of Dental Sciences, Newcastle University, he teaches undergraduate Oral Surgery and contributes to the clinical provision of Oral Surgery at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust.
James’s research focuses on understanding and controlling bioaerosols in dentistry, a problem he became interested in because of the disruption seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been invited to present this work internationally and was recently awarded a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England to take this work forward. His other research interests include three-dimensional imaging and orofacial pain.
